Not really. Scorpion's main attack is his spear, and Jarek's is now his lasso. Reptile's tongue would remain a side item, with Acid Spit definitely taking the cake as his trademark.

I don't own this version, but in the Game Gear version of MKII, instead of just eating your head, Reptile sticks out his tongue and it connects to the character's head, but pulls your entire body in and eats you whole.

I've had this exact idea before!!! I only posted it once though on one of Armitage's topics where you could created a bunch of new moves for whatever characters you thought up. I too got this idea from the MK:SM intro. Imagine him shooting his tongue around the opponent's neck and yanking them towards him for a free hit.
The style of the move is what makes it original also. In MK1, Reptile did have a spear move as well anyways.

they would have to make it unique to separate it from scorpions spear or jareks rope. for example they could have the tounge wrap round the throat and have the vitic gasping for air as he/she is pulled in (like im mksm)

You might as well say Rain and Nightwolf are rip offs of Raiden because they can use lightning. Might as well say Kenshi is a rip off of Ermac because he can move objects without touching them.

No, now you just dont understand what I said. Raiden doesnt have a move where he electricutes his opponent the same way rain or nightwolf do. Nightwolf is ripping off rains lightning special move. Now ermac and kenshi, oh boy where do I begin? Ermac and Kenshi share at least 50% of theyre specials! So those moves are being ripped of of kenshi since, since mk went 3d in MKDA kenshi had the moves first and ermac picked them up when he returned in MKD. So if two or more characters are sharing the same moves then theyre being ripped off.
I would love to see this move become real for reptile, but the truth of the matter is, any moves seen in videos dont always become real. Like the video with scorpion throwing fire projectiles at those acid budaha statues from MKDA. That didnt become real. We havent seen that move since that video. So reptiles tounge move will most likely be a lost special move.

Uhm, I undersood what you said perfectly. You said that if he had the tongue move, he wouldn't be unique anymore.
The thing is, Reptile isn't unique. Both him and Noob can turn invisible. He isn't the only saurian, there is Chameleon and Khameleon too. I don't see how giving him the move is taking away this "uniqeness" you claim he has.
You misunderstood what I said there. What Reptile would do is use his tongue to bring an enemy closer to him, similar to Scorpion. Reptile isn't using a spear, and he wouldn't be stabbing anyone, and he wouldn't be saying "come here". That is not ripping someone off, it's just doing a similar action in a different way. Like Imploding and blowing up buildings. Different methods, same result.
Honestly though, yeah, Kenshi and Ermac share SOME moves, not 50% like you claim. They both have different methods of using their Psychokinesis. It's really more Midway being lazy/unoriginal or whatever you want to say, that they share similar moves. There is so much potential for them both really, self-regeneration, Photokinesis, ESP, we could go one for days about it.
