yep, MK gold was basically just an expansion of MK4, like UMK3, it just introduced more characters.

Reiko is a general in Shao Khans army who in MK4 led many fans to believe he was Shao Khan when his ending showed him putting Khans helmet on. However in Konquest mode in Deception we learn that he is not Shao Khan but rather has an obsession with wearing Khans armor and helmit something Khan doesn't take kindly to.
