ninjitsu is cool but i think it doesn't fit to scorpion... I would give it to noob saibot... Or rain.
Anyway in the E3 demo Scorpion's fighting style was something like nan chuan, but he's a ninja so it would be better if it was something japanese, and nan chuan sounds chinese, but i'm not a fighting style expert so it's possible that i tell bullshit

STOP BEING NOOBS.
THIS IS JUST AN EARLY CONCEPT TO SHOW HOW THE GAME IS BEING DEVELOPED AT E3.
IT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S HOW IT'S GOING TO BE IN THE FINAL GAME.

RE: fighting styles
Another one of these threads? Well, since you asked again:
I'd like to see several distinct versions of some of the more popular fighting styles, especially Muay Thai and Wing Chun... I hated the one version of those styles they had.
Also, for all you guys wondering what style fits with what nationality:
Hapkido= Korean; combination of aikido and traditional taekwondo
Ninjitsu= Japanese (other japanese ninja styles include Ninpo and Budo)
Nan Chuan= Chinese
Shotokan= Japanese
Dragon= Chinese
Capoeira= Brazilian
If you insist on giving the characters styles that fit their nationalities, then Scorpion (a Japanese born ninja, originally Hanzo Hanashi) should use Japanese ninja styles instead of a more modern Korean style.
By that same logic, Sub-Zero (A Chinese Lin Kuei) should use strictly Chinese martial arts like Dragon and Nan Chuan, as opposed to Shotokan (a Japanese karate system)

RE: fighting styles
Here's a list of fighting styles they have yet to use in MK:
Pentjak Silat
Western Boxing
Savate
Budo
Ninpo
capoeira: it's crap in real life, but it looks so cool, it needs to be in a video game
real wrestling, any style (not that crap that Hsu Hao did)
Jujitsu (not that crap that Raiden did, that wasn't jujitsu)
Judo (again, the crap Jax did wasn't Judo... I could say the same about his Muay Thai style)
A few more variations of Drunken Fist (Their are eight traditional Drunken styles of Wushu, and then a "Drunken Monkey" style as well. They only used one for Bo'Rai'Cho)
Shidokan: My personal favorite karate system
Shotokai: even though I think it sucks
Tiger claws: a weapon system
Three sectioned staff: another weapon system
MMA: It's not a style, per se, rather a fusion of styles... however, most contemporary mixed martial artists definitely have a distict way of fighting--- of course, to do this justice, you'd have to introduce a fairly complex system of grappling and clinching into MK--- which I would love to see.

RE: fighting styles
If it's any comfort, I agree. The version of Hapkido from MKDA and MKD was the best style for gameplay in my opinion and I loved that Scorpion had it--- but honestly, the motion capture they used for that style might as well have been called "Taekwondo", "Karate", "Shotokan" or any of a dozen other traditional martial arts because they all use the same moves. In real life, what sets Hapkido apart is that there is a heavy emphasis on standing-grappling and throws as well as striking.

San Su would be a good one. Its of Kung Fu origin but the style has been modified for the ever popular underground "street fights" in Asia. I was taught it a few years ago and its absolutely brutal.

RE: fighting styles
OK - Think of this - What if you could customize your throws with a series of button presses like in a combo. Decide to end it with a juggle or a knock down or even follow up with another combo. Kind of like grappling. And your opponent could may-be interject a combo kind of like a breaker and take over the series agian like grappling. We certainly don't want a wrestling game, but I think this could be cool.

RE: fighting styles
This isn't Tekken.
This is Mortal Kombat.
Stop writting stupid threads about this and that.
This is just a game.
How can you even consider a good solid video game with fighting styles perfectly constructed if they can shoot fireballs and freeze your opponent?
This forum has been invaded by aliens called NOOBS

I'm not sure what your talking about. However, it looks like the only one bringing up Tekken is you man.
Also, if you don't want well done fighting styles that resemble the real thing, you should probably go back to playing teenage mutant ninja turtles, because this is Mortal Kombat, and the motion capture team (while far from perfect) actually does care about making the martial arts look authentic.
