Firstly I play the PS3 version; I know the 360 has better online capabilities (which is why they force people to pay to use) so lag may not be as big of a problem.

So first off I encounter lag in every game. I don't know whether the people who play (literally the most I've seen online is 60-something) are all in America or somewhere far from where I am (Grand ol' Brittainia) but every person I've fought online (ten or so, near enough, with an average of three fights each iirc) there has been some level of lag, ranging from game-disrupting to unplayably ridiculous. Is this a problem for everyone else? (it isn't me, btw, I have a solid 3 mbps, which isn't great but I can fight Americans on Street Fighter 4 who have 1.5 mbps with no problems whatsoever, so it shouldn't be all that big of an issue on my side of things at least).

Then, of course, Deathstroke's D,F,Square (where he stabs them with the knife then kicks) doesn't even f***ing work online, EVER!! What the heck is that about, seriously? Am I the only one experiencing this? Is there a way to get around it? Are there other moves which can't be done online?

Lastly how often do you guys encounter non-cheap players? All I seem to be seeing are people spamming Green Lanterns hammer drop, trying to infinite Joker's card trick or using lag to their advantage and spamming normal, fast combos.

The first two are easily solved by teleporting or running/jumping respectively (well, if timed GL's hammer gets pwned when Deathstroke shoots him in the face) but the lag-spammers are impossible to get around, because of the lag.

Any suggestions, feedback or answers? I really do like the game and I'd love to be able to play online without such abitrarily bullshit issues. I can't help but think after getting the 100 online match trophy, online might just be a waste of time without Midway or the Devs giving a turd about it sad

The only "cheap" players are those who employ the use of infinite combos. All of the other issues you have with the game can be countered by normal means. Green Lantern has a little advantage with that breaker/hammer combo, but that can be avoided by using jump attacks on him. He can stiil catch you with the fist after a breaker, but you will not bounce back up after you hit the ground. Losing 6% is better than losing 25% any day of the week.

If you're only seeing players with badd connections on the PS3, there must be something wrong. PS3's online for this game is regional. The connections should be pretty good Only the 360 allows for international play. The connections for international play are usually poor though. I've only experienced one decent connection against an Australian player. It's nice to be able to play international players when the connection is good.

Peace

I play ps3 version and I'm in London. My ps3 NAT type is set to 2. There is lag in some matches, ranging from a little to unplayable.
Deathstrokes df square move does work online. if he stabs you and then the kick misses, it's because of lag, usually 2 bar connection. If people abuse it on you, it's considered an infinate. there are loads of cheap players, but also loads of amazing players. I am an amazing player and know loads of amazing players. You should do the kombo challenges. They give you the basics as they are the text book way of doing it, and sure not everything works online, but thats what seperates the good players as they learn what works and what doesn't. send me a message either on here or or ps3, I want to help you.

Firstly, I'm offended to be treated like a noob. mastermalone, did I or did I not speak of how to defeat Joker card spammers and Green Lantern hammer bitchs?

I can beat cheap players like that with one hand behind my back and whilst spinning on my penis.

My problem is after two matches it gets boring, because that's ALL they do. There's no challenge. It's not fun. Please don't patronise me.

The thing is the DFSquare still lag-fails when I'm fighting someone with four bars. I'll try to keep playing for a short while but if it's consistently even half as bad as it has been, then there won't be much point. Thanks for the help... or at least, attempts.

This is a completely different game online. The servers are the worse out of any other fighter out there.

Crap like Shang’s soul steal which has huge delay offline becomes completely safe. Green lanterns 1,1,3 combo will slow down online. Jax will get a random free ground pound off of a ground pound.

Some frame traps become even better online because you can’t uppercut out of high moves without being hit or them just whiffing. People can jump randomly without fear of being anti aired u2. Many juggle and pro move just don’t work online.

Characters like Flash, Kahn, and Raiden dominate the game online because of the lag.

I main with Kitana and Liu Kang and when I lag it kills me because their combos are pretty hard when there is lag =/.

Or don't fight deathstroke. There is a way to beat DS with shang, see if you can work it out. a good ds kombo is
bf triangle, b + square b + triangle, b + triangle, triangle, bf square, ff triangle.

I'm not talking about fighting against him, I'm talking about fighting whilst using him. His DFSquare is a nice combo ender, but since it can't even be done properly (and since lag makes it near impossible for me to get that far, even though I've nigh on perfected it offline) the metaphorical spanner gets right up into the works.

I agree completely. However since online mode has become the lynchpin of fighting games these days, it's a VERY harmful aspect to the quality of the game.

No, I use it to end his juggle combo. His sixth kombo challenge, I think it was.

thats cool. I've found that people do respect you more if you don't use deathstroke's sword.

I never treat anyone like a noob. I only addressed your concerns regarding what you consider to be "Cheap." Only jerks who think they're "holier than thou" preach that "you're a scrub" nonsense. I don't do that to anyone and I did not do that to you. My intention was to clarify what is cheap and what isn't. If I came off that way to you, my apologies.

Again, people who "spam" one or so moves in an attempt to defeat you are not cheap...in fact, they're the easiest opponents to beat. They're extremely predictable. Like you said, they're boring to fight. But once you've handed their asses to them, you can choose to move on. In most cases, I'll get a player who likes to exploit the Flash. This is where I agree with you. The Flash is an unbalanced character. he completely changes the way you play the game. You can't even move around freely or pressure combo/poke him without getting spun around.

Ya but a good player will see the self freeze coming and just wait for it. Sub leaves himself wide open when he uses it and will take a huge amount of damage.
